AAAA Records
What is an AAAA resource record? What role do AAAA records serve? Do you need to add one to your site?
An AAAA record is an IP in the newly launched IPv6 format and it consists of eight groups of hexadecimal numbers, in contrast to the IPv4 IPs, which include 4 groups of numbers in between 1 and 255. An example of an IPv6 address is 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and in this format the total number of IPs which can be created is many times bigger than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Each and every domain has its web hosting server Internet protocol address as a record and in essence, this unique record informs the domain name where the Internet site for it is located. Depending on the system the provider employs, the record will be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record enables you to host your site with one provider and your email messages with a different one, so if you decide to use this kind of redirection to forward a domain address to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you'll need to create an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Website Hosting
If you want to create a new AAAA record for any domain address or subdomain hosted inside your
website hosting account, it won't take you more than several easy steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel is extremely intuitive to use and it'll enable you to set up or edit any record easily. When you sign in and navigate to the DNS Records section, where you can find all current records for your domain names and subdomains, you'll only have to click the "New" button, pick AAAA from a small drop-down menu inside the pop-up which will appear, type or paste the needed IPv6 address and save the modification - it's as basic as that. The new record is going to be 100% active within a maximum of one hour and the hostname you have created it for shall start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If required, you'll also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which reveals the time in seconds which the new record will be active after you eventually modify it to something different or you simply erase it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
Creating a new AAAA record is incredibly easy using our user-friendly Hepsia hosting CP, so if you host a domain address in a
semi-dedicated server account from our company and you want such a record either for it or for a subdomain that you've created under it, you'll be able to create it in just a few simple steps and without any hassle. Hepsia has a section devoted to the DNS records of your domains in which you can find all existing records or set up new ones with a couple of mouse clicks. All it takes to do this is to pick the domain/subdomain that you would like to modify, pick AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and input the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address the other service provider has given you. Within an hour after you save the change, the new record will propagate globally and your domain will start directing to the third-party server. If they need it, you may also modify the TTL value, which shows the time this record will be active with its current value before a new one takes over if you make any modifications in the future.
